Coldsinki

Coldsinki

There are some music or musicians, about whom you can say - so many things in my life are connected to it! Truly, Coldplay is one of such. This story will be short and without band insights - I believe there is plenty of info or interviews with them. Just a couple of thoughts from my side.

I used to remember the very first feeling and moment when I get to know a band or some music. Coldplay first appeared in my life when I was 17 and studied in a first year of university. iPhone has not appeared yet, we used landlines and Nokia 3310. And watched TV.

So, I was sitting at home with some lecture notebooks, tv was turned on on the MTV channel. My attention was drawn by the nice music, tender voices and monochrome video of Talk song. That was so cool! I thought I never heard or seen anything like this. I'd watched some show later on a channel, which introduced Coldplay as a new British band. Here it begins - one of the most frequent participants of my playlists!

Later there was Clock song, truly the anthem of all times! And Yellow, which played in our car during the very first vacation with my beloved soon-to-be wife. Of course, when my wife invited me recently to a concert of Coldplay covers with a strings quartet - I could not resist! And that was awesome. Dark stage of an old creaky theatre full of candles. Violins and cello. That all brought us to the atmosphere of the Bridgerton TV show for a while. Modern music with classical instruments.

And you know what - 2 days later real Coldplay did 3 big concerts in Helsinki! Of course, I didn't come because of ticket prices and big crowds. But I was pleased to see people in Coldplay t-shirts all over the city the next days and heard, that Helsinki was called Coldsinki for a couple of days.

What can I give as a listen recommendation? My favorite thing they did - a concert in the sunrise on the roof of house in Jerusalem. A true blessing to hear that.
